PROJECT PROFILE:
Virtual Learning Academy – Berrien Springs, MI

Vitual Learning Academy Carmi Design worked with the Berrien Springs Public Schools to create the new Virtual Academy building located in Southwest Michigan. This high-tech classroom facility provides the resources necessary for all aspects of virtual learning; through state of the art technology in every area of the building. These flexible, learning-centered spaces support unlimited teaching and learning configurations.

Berrien Springs Public Schools has learned first-hand how providing the resources for virtual learning increased their student count and generated much needed dollars from state funding. By utilizing the State’s seat-time waivers the school system is able to receive state aid for students who don’t physically attend classes in the district.

Of course, the financial rewards represented only one benefit of offering virtual learning. The most valuable benefit is to the students themselves; these programs offered the opportunity for students to challenge themselves, study a broad spectrum of subjects that wouldn’t ordinarily be available to them, and perhaps earn a few college credits in the process.
